We’re looking for a Product & Growth Specialist to sit between Business Development and Product, helping us scope, shape, and deliver the right solutions.
You’ll work closely with the product team to deeply understand the product’s development roadmap and potential, so you can represent what’s possible (and what’s not yet ready) with clarity and confidence. You will support BD by running structured research and discovery, understanding customer needs, and translating them into clear solution options, scope, and requirements.
This role suits someone who is customer-facing, structured, and comfortable translating between institutional stakeholders and internal product teams. Importantly, you value collaboration and shared learning and enjoy working independently.
Product Development & Internal Translation
Work closely with the product team to build a deep understanding of the platform’s current capabilities, development roadmap, and future potential.
Translate customer requirements into structured product inputs (feature requests, workflow improvements, pilot requirements, and usability gaps).
Support product testing and iteration cycles by coordinating feedback, documenting issues, and tracking follow-ups.
Help the team clarify what is feasible now vs what requires phased delivery, managing expectations clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain internal documentation (FAQs, workflows, release notes summaries) to support consistent customer conversations.
Customer Research & Stakeholder Mapping
Research target institutions to understand their strategic priorities, workforce challenges, and learning agendas (e.g., digital transformation, employability outcomes, AI readiness).
Map customer stakeholders and influence paths (sponsor, buyer, user, procurement, delivery owner) to support BD in navigating decision-making and approvals.
Analyse customer context to anticipate requirements, constraints, and risk factors (budget cycles, governance, data/privacy considerations, delivery timelines).
Track patterns across discovery conversations to identify repeatable needs, common objections, and emerging opportunities for product and GTM improvement.
Summarise insights into clear internal briefs that strengthen our positioning, scoping accuracy, and solution recommendations.
Early Delivery Support & Coordination
Support onboarding and early-stage delivery for new customers, ensuring expectations are aligned from the start.
Coordinate internal teams and external experts to ensure smooth handover from BD to delivery.
Track key risks early (timelines, stakeholder alignment, scope creep) and surface them quickly with proposed solutions.
Support delivery readiness by ensuring requirements, timelines, and responsibilities are documented clearly.
Capture lessons learned from pilots and early delivery to improve future scoping and product decisions.
Internal Operations & Process Improvement
Maintain accurate records in CRM and internal tools, ensuring customer context and next steps are visible and actionable.
Suggest improvements to how we run discovery, scope solutions, and coordinate delivery across teams.
Create lightweight templates that improve speed and consistency (discovery notes format, handover checklist, customer requirements form).
Support reporting and internal updates so leadership has visibility on customer needs, product implications, and delivery risks.
You’re someone who loves connecting ideas, people, and opportunities, equally comfortable analysing data, managing projects, and bringing ideas to life. You thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy learning by doing, and care about turning insight into real impact.
3–5 years of experience in HR, talent strategy, or HR business partnering (startup or consulting experience is a plus).
Familiarity with HR assessment tools and software.
Entrepreneurial and resourceful, you take initiative and enjoy figuring things out. Demonstrated experience building or contributing to something new (a project, idea, or new business).
Project or program management experience, with hands-on familiarity using tools such as ClickUp, Notion or Asana.
Comfortable in client-facing environments and able to build trust.
Strong communication and analytical skills, able to translate complex ideas into clear, actionable insights.
Impact-driven, you care about helping people and organisations grow.
Comfortable with ambiguity and motivated to learn.
Able to combine creative thinking with disciplined follow-through.
If you’re excited by building things that matter, this is your chance to do it. You’ll work directly with the founding and growth team to shape Skills U’s go-to-market and B2B strategy, contributing ideas that turn into real-world impact.
At Skills U, you’ll have the autonomy to lead your work and the support of a collaborative, curious team that learns and builds together. We move with startup agility but think with long-term purpose, combining technology, human insight, and creativity to help people and organisations thrive.
We’re building a culture where curiosity, empathy, and individuality are strengths. We welcome diverse perspectives, across backgrounds, identities, and ways of thinking, because we know that’s how the best ideas and learning experiences are built.
