This is one of my fave stalls in Chinatown complex. The prices have risen over the years (it’s around $7 for a set now) but it’s still very value for money for the sheer quality of the food.
I love their black pepper and teriyaki chicken sets, while the grilled fish set is the go-to for my friends. The sheer number of bento options is mind boggling, and all worth a try.
The owner is also super friendly, and always has a big smile. Do note that the stall only accepts cash though.
Ordered the Ebi Don ($6) and Katsuo Boshi Chicken Set ($6). Both were delicious and served in generous portions. The egg in the don was a nice mix of sweet & savoury, its texture was tenderly soft too. The stall owners were polite. Would come back and patronize this humble stall in the future.
Ordered at 1845, took about 15-20 minutes before my food was ready so prepare for a slight wait during peak hours.
A quicker way of locating the stall is by taking the bridge that is connected to New Bridge centre on the 2nd floor. Walk straight after entering the hawker centre.
the store owners were so nice!!! I reached near closing time which was my bad but they still bothered to go the extra mile to cut more ingredients for my food even though they were preparing to close
you can tell that they really try their best and tbh I love the food. it was so fragrant that it filled my entire car with the smell 10/10. I had the katsudon and I feel it’s much better than other hawker dons I tried. will def come back!!!
I'm surprised that such good Japanese stall is there. My family and I ordered Katsu curry, Teriyaki chicken and Karaage sets. All of them are carefully cooked and very nice. Quality of rice and miso soup as well. Price is affordable too! I will definitely come back.
You can have $9 eel rice set at this hawker stall, own by Mr Lim. He is the chef, according to the display in front of the stall they are a lots of awards. I order the eel set taste good.
Auntie is friendly and open to enquiries about their food .
No More Carrot sandwich
( they no longer made it - auntie said )
Have Putu mayam / ondeh ondeh / tapioca kueh / fried sweet potato ball / fried sesame ball .
Ondeh ondeh - sweet potato outside is Q n nice ( not those chewy type which use more filllers ) . Authentic .
Filling somewhat bit disappointing . The liquid texture is on point .. BUT just that its too sweet . Cut down on the sweetness and will be more perfect .
Coconut shavings ( coating ) a bit dry .
** Bought the ondeh ondeh around 7am and sold out at 7.30am .
Sweet potato ball still have but not much .
Overall . Above average / nice ondeh ondeh .
