This is one of my fave stalls in Chinatown complex. The prices have risen over the years (it’s around $7 for a set now) but it’s still very value for money for the sheer quality of the food. I love their black pepper and teriyaki chicken sets, while the grilled fish set is the go-to for my friends. The sheer number of bento options is mind boggling, and all worth a try. The owner is also super friendly, and always has a big smile. Do note that the stall only accepts cash though.

Generous portion for the salmon. Salmon was crispy❤️. Miso soup wasn’t ur watered down soup, was nice and rich with loads of seaweed. Owners were very friendly. Would definitely go back again.

Yuzu chicken chop rice is very nice. The flavour of the sauce is really nice and special. U will not have it in other places. Must try! Price also affordable and the portion is reasonable (enough for a normal adult man to be full).

Was attracted by the ratings for this stall on Google review and the award displayed at the stall. Ordered set no. 1, teriyaki salmon set. Waited for 5 minutes. When my order was called, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was completely different from the display. The thin slice of salmon was crispy and unlike any salmon from other Japanese stall. There were some vegetable below the piece of salmon, rice and miso soup. $7.50 for this in a hawker centre. The salmon was not fishy and the teriyaki sauce went well with it. I didn't find value in this meal.

The katsu had a nice crispy batter and the meat was tender and tasty. The portion was pretty decent while the rice was actually a little less than a typical bowlful; more importantly I think the rice tasted better than average. I also liked the miso soup which was served piping hot and tasted quite good (exceeded my expectation for sure). For $7 I think it's pretty good value and I wouldn't hesitate to come back for more, especially since I've yet to try their best selling teriyaki salmon and chicken offerings.

Average price of $5-$6 for Japanese cuisine located in Chinatown, probably the most value for money meal you can find. I’ve been supporting their business for at least 5 years, the boss/chef is very friendly, always serve the customer with a big smile. The quality of the food is good, love their tempura dishes. The only thing I don’t really recommend is their red miso, but it’s subjective to personal preference, the sauce taste like Chee Chong fan’s sauce. Other than that, I really can’t find a reason not to dine here.

the store owners were so nice!!! I reached near closing time which was my bad but they still bothered to go the extra mile to cut more ingredients for my food even though they were preparing to close you can tell that they really try their best and tbh I love the food. it was so fragrant that it filled my entire car with the smell 10/10. I had the katsudon and I feel it’s much better than other hawker dons I tried. will def come back!!!

I'm surprised that such good Japanese stall is there. My family and I ordered Katsu curry, Teriyaki chicken and Karaage sets. All of them are carefully cooked and very nice. Quality of rice and miso soup as well. Price is affordable too! I will definitely come back.

Really affordable Japanese food at Smith Street Hawker Centre. Went during dinner time and it wasn’t crowded. The stall did server the dish to my table as well. Though it’s gets very crowded during lunch time. Ordered the Katsu Teriyaki Set with comes with rice and soup. May not be restaurant standard but it’s really value for money.
