Had the soy sauce chicken noodles and it was amazing, tender, flavorful chicken with perfectly cooked noodles. The staff were really friendly too. One of the few places open early in the morning, which is a big plus. Just note that they only accept cash. Will definitely come back!

Didn’t expect the soy sauce chicken to be so nice. This shop has a very high standard. The soy sauce chicken is prepared in the most traditional way. The skin is sweet, but the meat inside is still very tender and doesn’t absorb any sweetness, makes it valuable. The soy dark sauce for dipping not that sweet too. Not those super with added sugar but not from the soy sauce. Reasonable price for the 4 person. Uncle aunties are very friendly. They are helpful and supporting the business.

The only friendly staff is d guy manning d cash register. he greeted me as I entered n took my order. No menu, just answer noodles or rice. Er... I m local but this is still my first visit after all. "Noodles" n I took my sit. "Pay later." - d 2nd nice thing so far. I was directed or a 2-seater nearest to d back of d restaurant. It's quite an uncomfortable seat as it's tight. I didn't want to occupy d next available table which was for 4-pax. Asked for chilli when my order was served. Wait staff took fr another table n "dumped" it on mine. Yes, "dumped", with sound effect somemore. There was no saucer. Ran out? So I scooped d green n red chilli onto my noodles. Red chilli is sooo good! But before I knew it, an aunty staff took d tray away fr me 😐 Where's d courtesy n manners?? R they too much to ask for...? Flavouring of noodles is good. Not too salty. Without this, d noodles r tasteless yah. Chicken is tender but chopping technique cld b improved? - too many smashed bone bits in my noodles, I had to chew with caution. Done, walked to pay at d cash register n was abt to leave. Entrance was congested with customers n tourists. Instead of taking turns, this other male staff just shoved past us, wah~ cust svc is really lacking here ah...

soy chicken was juicy and tender, however we felt that the marination and flavours were well captured on the skin level, not so much at the meat. gizzards were tough. noodles were cooked al-dente and springy, sauces was a little one dimensioned and was not able to cover the alkaline taste, chilli was not able to help with that too. portions were reasonable for the price paid, worth a try if haven't eaten before.

Delicious soy sauce chicken. Noodles are crunchy with a good sauce. An old school soy sauce chicken shop that have been around for ages. Chicken soft, tender and well seasoned. There is another competitor shop nearby but I believe this is the authentic one.

Been there as a child. Remembered place was warm and not well lighted then. Food option was basic then. Lots of diners and roadside pickups then. Revisited and the place is better ventilated and bright. Food not as flavourful maybe in line with the healthier track promoted. Chicken remains tender though. Unlikely to order the soup dumplings if I should visit again. Skin is thick and has a smell (the meat ) that does not go well with me. Price has gone up much. Will revisit for the nostalgia .

This is a place I always come back to whenever I’m in the Chinatown area. Established in the 1940s, this iconic eatery is widely credited with pioneering soy sauce chicken in Singapore—a dish that has since become a beloved staple both locally and internationally. During my recent visit, I indulged in their signature Soy Sauce Chicken, served with a side of springy noodles and vibrant greens. The chicken was incredibly tender, with each bite infused with the rich, aromatic soy sauce blend that Chew Kee has perfected over decades. The noodles were light yet flavorful, soaking up the delicious sauce beautifully, and the accompanying clear soup added a comforting touch to the meal. What keeps me coming back isn’t just the food—it’s the consistency, the unpretentious charm of the place, and the knowledge that I’m tasting a piece of Singapore’s culinary history. Pro Tip: Come during off-peak hours to skip the queue.

Best breakfast I had in Singapore. Did the chicken breast, dry noodles and it was perfect. Chicken was moist, noodles fresh, flavor was A+, and very inexpensive. Highly recommend.

Old school shop. Auntie was very nice and patience with me. Worth that $6 for the noodles (added $1 for the dumplings). Edit on 19 July 2025: Brought my wife to eat, still great and aunties are nice

Been coming here since primary school days. Haven’t been back in over 5 years. Soy sauce chicken still good! Unfortunately the dumpling soup has changed since I last had it. Used to be bigger and juicier. Now it is small and meat inside quite mushy. Can give it a miss.
