Chiew Kee Noodle House is a third-generation family business that has been serving authentic Singaporean-style soya sauce chicken noodles since 1949. Located at 32 Upper Cross Street, this historic establishment was founded when the patriarch traveled to Hong Kong and returned to create Singapore's own distinctive version of soya sauce chicken - darker in color and more robust in flavor than its Hong Kong counterpart. Now operated by the third generation of the Chiew family, the restaurant maintains its original recipe and time-honored cooking methods, using only fresh (never frozen) chicken and hand-picked spices. Their signature soya sauce chicken is described as "tian zhong dai sian" - sweet with subtle saltiness - achieved through slow-braising techniques perfected over seven decades. Standard plates start at with drumstick options at , offering excellent value for this traditional comfort food. Operating Thursday to Tuesday from 8am to 7pm, Chiew Kee represents part of Singapore's culinary heritage and is notably involved in a friendly rivalry with similarly-named Chew Kee just 80 meters away - both originally from the same family but now independent establishments preserving their own interpretations of this beloved local dish.

Absolutely loved our meal at Chiew Kee! We had the half chicken with rice and noodles, dumpling soup, braised egg, vegetables, and lime juice. The chicken was incredibly tender, and the noodles were bursting with flavor. Everything was perfectly cooked and satisfying. The lime juice added a refreshing touch to the meal. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for delicious and authentic flavors! 😋

There are 2 shops with similar sounding names along this street. Both shops are related, but each shop is run separately of each other.
This shop is more modern and has air conditioning.
Their signature is their soya sauce chicken which you can pair with rice, egg noodles or kway teow.
I usually order the egg noodles which were al dente. I had the chicken breast which was succulent. The sauce was could have been more.
Also had the dumpling in soup. This was a little skinny with little filling.
Downside: You may need to share tables during busy periods.

I have been keeping a lookout for a good plate of soya sauce chicken noodles and was introduced to Chiew Kee Noodle House
We got half soya sauxe chicken to start off with, and I was impressed by the robust aroma of the soya sauce, which permeated the meaty chicken. the sauce itself has a nice subtle sweetness from the soy sauce but not overpowering. The meat was succulent and juicy. It really stole the show for me
We also got hor fun to go with our soya sauce chicken. The silky smooth hor fun soaks up the flavourful broth, making each mouthful flavour-packed.
Next, we extra order soup dumplings. The thin dumpling skin was smooth as silk and almost elegant, but when you’re into the meat filling, you will be hit by a delicious crunch from chunks of water chestnut and well-seasoned minced meat
Certainly one of the best soya sauce chicken I ever had.
