Singapore's Chinatown will host a travelling exhibition by Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall this June, exploring the rich traditions of the Dragon Boat Festival (Duan Wu Festival).
Running from 11 to 25 June 2026 along Smith Street, the exhibition delves into the origins of the festival — from ancient river dragon worship to the commemoration of Qu Yuan, the legendary poet and statesman of the Warring States period.
Visitors can discover the diverse rice dumpling (zongzi) traditions across Chinese communities, learn about the symbolism of dragon boat racing, and understand why the fifth day of the fifth lunar month holds such significance.
Admission is free. The exhibition is part of the National Heritage Board's travelling exhibition programme, bringing museum-quality content to neighbourhoods across Singapore.
