Best authentic Hainanese chicken rice in Singapore. Love everything about this stall. Chicken is tender , sauce is good and best part is the rice.

When you see a stall with more than 50% of the people queuing up are locals, you are at the right place. Unlike some brands famous among tourists, you will only see tourists queuing. This is worth the queue.

This chicken rice is my all time favourite. The chicken is very tasty, fresh and super tender and the rice is firm and perfect. i always go with a quarter chicken (lower half) and a bowl of rice. The original owners have passed on but they handed the recipy and stall to the young couple now manning it. They have kept the elderly couple's tradition and taste!

Located inside the Chinatown market, 2nd floor. A simple chicken rice stall to try out. Chicken is okay, portion is perfect for 1 pax. Their chili is on the spicier side but the garlic sauce is a little bland. Many stalls are closed early, gotta be there in the evening for dinner.

A chicken rice that I remember I had since young in the 80s n 90s.. in those days chicken rice was made this way. Smooth tender chicken soaked in Strong n fragrant soy sauce. A bowl of oily grain where u can easily conquer 2-3 servings. Chicken meat literally fell of the bone. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find such standard today. Worst still I dun understand how stalls like tian tian Maxwell can achieve Michelin guide. It makes tourists think that the OG chicken rice is that way. Sad !

It's not the best chicken rice around, but it is worth tasting as a traditional old way of eating chicken rice.

One popular chicken rice stall in Chinatown Complex many years ago before they went on a prolonged hiatus, but came back with a new generation. Currently still pretty popular considering that a queue formed up as soon as it opens. They only sell steamed chicken rice and plates their rice in their iconic small blue bowl. The chicken was tender and the sauce was a good mix of soy sauce and chicken oil, not too overly salty. The rice came out hot, had a good chicken flavour and good amount of oil. There is no need to drench the rice with the chicken sauce or the other sauces as itself alone is already flavourful. In chicken rice, the rice should always be more savoury than the chicken and this is the case here at Heng Ji. I wish that the rice I ate today would be a little more fluffier as I felt the rice was a bit overcooked. The rice was clumping a little bit texture wise. I am glad that their stall legacy has been passed on to the new generation and they have managed to retain mostly the quality of the dish.

Pretty good steam chicken rice here. Tender and juicy chicken with fragrant and moist rice.

This is a stall with some history and was handed over to a new generation in recent years. I walked past it a couple of times and they were recently featured on a YouTube channel, so I decided to try it for lunch. We got a whole chicken and a plate of bean sprouts to share. It worked out to around $8.45 per pax, which I think is quite affordable. The rice was a little disappointing as they were no longer in whole grains. I quite liked the chicken tender, it was quite tender. I also like the sliced cucumber that they lined the bottom of the plate with, and because of how they were sliced, they really absorbed the sauces well. Worth a try if you are in the area.
