The best indoor stop on Pagoda Street
Chinatown Heritage Centre occupies three conserved shophouses at 48 Pagoda Street. It is the place to understand why the streets outside look the way they do — cubicle living, five-foot ways, trades, and the migration story that built Kreta Ayer. For a tourist day in Chinatown it pairs naturally with the temples and a hawker lunch.

How to fit it into a festival day
Go in the afternoon, before last entry. The galleries are a cool break from the street. After you exit you are already on Pagoda Street — five minutes from Sri Mariamman Temple, the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, and the Mid-Autumn lantern corridor once lights go on at 7pm from 18 September.
