Mid-Autumn Festival is Friday 25 September 2026. Chinatown is not hanging large lanterns on Eu Tong Sen Street or New Bridge Road this year, so the useful festive errand is mooncakes. Two bakeries still sit on Sago Street under the Tai Chong Kok name. Thye Moh Chan's Teochew sets are at Chinatown Point, with 15 percent off until 14 September if you use the EARLYBIRD code online.
Two Tai Chong Kok shops on Sago Street
Visitors mix them up. They are separate businesses, a few doors apart, both selling handmade Cantonese mooncakes without preservatives.
Chop Tai Chong Kok at 38 Sago Street is the 1935 line. Staff still form lotus paste by hand and press cakes in the old wooden moulds. The range stays traditional: reduced-sugar red lotus and less-sugar white lotus, plain through four yolks, plus a vegetarian lotus. Round-ups this season list boxes of four from about S$66 to S$82. Chinatown Tai Chong Kok Confectionery Hue Kee (牛車水大中國餅家餘記) collects at Chinatown, Aljunied, or Redhill. The Chinatown shop is at 34 Sago Street. Mid-Autumn orders opened 13 August. On the official shop, a four-piece Assorted Seeds and Ham box is S$78 to S$91 depending on packaging. Signature Lotus, one yolk with olive kernel is S$66 to S$79. Eight-piece liquor and nutty snowskin combos sit at S$70 to S$83. They use Hunan lotus seeds, Chinese olive kernels, bromate-free flour, and cholesterol-free groundnut oil. The cakes are not halal. Walk Sago Street from Chinatown MRT Exit A, past Sri Mariamman Temple. Both counters get queues closer to the 25th. If you need a specific yolk count, order online and pick up rather than hoping the display case still has double yolk on the 24th.
Thye Moh Chan at Chinatown Point, 15 percent off until 14 September
For flaky Teochew pastry instead of Cantonese lotus, go to Thye Moh Chan at Chinatown Point #01-45, 133 New Bridge Road. The brand started in 1943 and holds the National Heritage Board's 2024 Stewards of Intangible Cultural Heritage award. Daily hours: 10am to 9:30pm. Phone +65 6604 8858.

There is no People's Park Square festive mooncake fair this year. The Chinatown Festival Committee cancelled the street market along with the large lanterns. Buy in the bakeries and the mall instead.
