By Chinatown Singapore inCulture & Heritage

Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre hosts four Singapore Writers Festival programmes on Saturday 14 November 2026. SCCC presents the day. The festival produces it. Three sessions sit in the Recital Studio on Level 6. One sits in the Practice Room on Level 10. Tickets are on singaporewritersfestival.com. Promo code SWFSCCC10 takes 10 percent off Festival Passes, Youth Passes, and individual programme tickets. English and Chinese listings match on dates, rooms, and prices. Use those pages, not a blog recap, when you book.

Morning: Little Otter, 10.30am to 12pm

When Singapore's Little Otter Meets Chinese Tradition (当狮城小水獭遇上华人传统文化) is a parent-child session for ages 4 and up. Price S$15 per parent-child pair. Recital Studio, Level 6. English and Mandarin. Teacher Li (李晓林老师) and the Little Otter team walk through a story about a young Singapore otter looking for family, then point at the Chinese cultural details inside that plot. Official English page: Little Otter at SCCC. If you have a four-year-old, this is the only session of the four with an age floor.

Afternoon: Diary on Level 10, Twilight on Level 6

Diary and the Whale (日记与鲸鱼) is four identical-length sessions in the Practice Room, Level 10: 1pm to 2pm, 2.30pm to 3.30pm, 4pm to 5pm, and 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Price S$10. English and Mandarin. Rei Poh (傅正龙) and Deng Xiaofei (邓晓菲) made two original student works with University of the Arts Singapore BA Contemporary Chinese Theatres students. One looks at care turning into control at home. The other uses a diary and a whale motif for the gap between the self you show and the self you hide. Page: Diary and the Whale.

Talking to Twilight (对黄昏说) is 3pm to 4.30pm in the Recital Studio, Level 6. Price S$20. Mandarin, English, and Cantonese. The English listing also prints the title as Speaking to Twilight. Same show. It starts from Yeng Pway Ngon's novel The Colour of Twilight (英培安《黄昏的颜色》), then stages the same monologue across three languages with dance and live music. Page: Talking to Twilight. Diary's 2.30pm and 4pm slots clash with Twilight. A workable stack is Little Otter at 10.30am, Diary at 1pm, Twilight at 3pm. Skip the later Diary hours if you do that.

Evening: Lions and Tigers, 7pm to 8.30pm

Lions and Tigers in Malaysia and Singapore (狮虎一堂) is 7pm to 8.30pm, Recital Studio, Level 6. Price S$10. English and Mandarin. No age limit. Dr Lai Chee Kien (赖启健) and Dr Bak Jia How (莫家浩) talk through tigers and lions in folklore, history, and the two countries' symbols, including the last wild tigers here about a century ago. Page: Lions and Tigers. Diary's last slot ends at 6.30pm on Level 10, so you can walk down two floors for the 7pm talk.
