SINGAPO人 at SCCC closes from 31 October 2026 · 常设展最后几天

SINGAPO人 at SCCC closes from 31 October 2026. Last day Thursday 30 October. Free, Level 2. Reopens end 2027.

By Chinatown Singapore inCulture & Heritage

Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre will close its permanent exhibition SINGAPO人: Discovering Chinese Singaporean Culture from Saturday 31 October 2026. The homepage popup is the primary notice. The gallery shuts from that date while SCCC refreshes the content, and it reopens at the end of 2027. Lianhe Zaobao on 21 October 2026 uses the same date, 10月31日起. If you still want this version of the five zones, the last visiting day is Thursday 30 October.

Hours this week, including the short Monday

The gallery is on Level 2 at 1 Straits Boulevard, Singapore 018906, the 11-storey building behind Singapore Conference Hall. Admission is free. SCCC's visit page lists exhibition hours as 2pm to 8pm on Monday and 10am to 8pm Tuesday to Sunday, including public holidays. The homepage hours table currently prints Monday as 10am to 8pm. For this last Monday, 27 October, follow the visit page and arrive after 2pm. Do not treat 10am Monday as a confirmed opening.

From Saturday 25 October you have six days: 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30. Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday run 10am to 8pm. Monday is the short one. 31 October is a Saturday, and it is the first closed day, not a bonus weekend. A free Mandarin lecture, Visible Differences, sits in the Recital Studio on Level 6 that afternoon. That talk does not reopen Level 2. Facts for the lecture: Visible Differences at SCCC.

What is on Level 2 now

The exhibition opened in February 2020. Zaobao, quoting SCCC, puts visits at 402,671 through August 2026, of which 62,119 were students. Monthly surveys show 60 to 80 percent of respondents are under 35, and more than half of monthly visitors are Singapore citizens. Visitors 60 and above are 1 to 10 percent. Senior curator 曹世明 told Zaobao the physical objects have aged after six years, some interactives lag, the audio is patchy, and the RFID wristbands used for games sometimes fail. Visitors still like the hands-on stations. They also asked for more of them, including things a family can do together.

The five zones, named in the same Zaobao piece, are 身份新注解, 文化新世代, 多元新融汇, 原创新展望, and 国际新典范. The current story is how southern Chinese traditions arrived with migrants, mixed with other dialect groups and other communities here, and produced a Chinese Singaporean culture that is not a copy of Fujian or Guangdong. CEO 陈子宇 said the refresh should present contemporary Chinese Singaporean culture in a more interactive way. Specific new stations are still being decided. After 31 October you will not see this version of the gallery again.

How to get there from Chinatown

From Maxwell Food Centre the walk is about 12 minutes along Maxwell Road onto Straits Boulevard. Tanjong Pagar MRT EW15 Exit D is about 7 minutes. Shenton Way MRT TE19 Exit 3 is about 3 minutes. Downtown MRT DT17 Exit E is about 12 minutes. Chinatown MRT NE4/DT19 is further; treat this as a Tanjong Pagar add-on, not a Pagoda Street shop. Bit Bit Forest, the inflatable-rabbit lantern set on the roof garden, stays open until 13 December 2026, 10am to 10pm, free. That is a different floor. You can still photograph the roof after the permanent gallery shuts.

Group tours and educator bookings go through SCCC's visit and group-visits pages. Email enquiries@singaporeccc.org.sg. Phone +65 6812 7222. The 2031 Singapore Chinese Heritage Gallery planned for Singapore Conference Hall is a later project next door. It does not replace this week's last days on Level 2. Official close notice: singaporeccc.org.sg homepage popup. Shicheng carried the same 31 October / end-2027 dates on 23 October 2026.
