Chinatown Heritage Centre at 48 Pagoda Street is open. The official site now lists two later maintenance windows. All day on Tuesday 10 November 2026, and 11:30 to 16:00 on Friday 4 December 2026. Other days stay 10:00 to 20:00, last entry 19:15.
The September close is already over. Do not treat the centre as shut for the rest of the year. Walk from Chinatown MRT Exit A and the three conserved shophouses sit about a minute from the station. On 10 November the ticket desk will not sell a slot. On 4 December the gap is the early afternoon only. Morning before 11:30 and evening after 16:00 still work that Friday if they have capacity.
Inside, the walk is the 1950s tenement the street used to hold. A tenant room with shirts on a bamboo line. A barber chair next to red couplets. A dark room where a Trengganu Street sign sits over an opera projection and people sit on a bench as if it were a wayang night. Those rooms are what the two dates interrupt. Pagoda Street, Trengganu Street, and South Bridge Road stay open around them.
What those two dates actually close
10 November is a full-day close. Do not book a morning tour and hope staff let you in. 4 December is a four-and-a-half-hour gap in the middle of the day. If you only have a Friday lunch slot, pick another date.
The official What's On page still runs the usual add-ons around those two days. The SG61 Experience Bundle pairs the centre with Rise Bakehouse Heritage at S$61 until 31 December 2026. Ransack: The Feast of Fury is a S$45 puzzle walk through Chinatown, not a gallery ticket. Foreign visitors can still walk in from 19:00 to 20:00 at S$15 on days the desk is open. Birthday-month free entry still needs a Singapore photo ID. None of those run through a closed desk.
Concessions need ID at the counter. Book on the official site before you walk over. Walk-up tickets sell out on weekends. Admission is capped per timeslot.
The rest of the street stays open
Sri Mariamman Temple and Masjid Jamae sit on South Bridge Road the same block. Buddha Tooth Relic Temple keeps its own calendar, including the Hundred-Buddhas Offerings that run through 23 October and a roof garden shut until 15 December. Those are separate buildings with separate tickets.
Chinatown Complex across the road has its own Q4 wash on 16 and 17 November 2026. That is a hawker close, not a museum close. Maxwell Food Centre, Amoy Street, and People's Park wash in December. Do not mix those dates with Pagoda Street.
If you still want the 1950s rooms
Standard tickets on the official price board are S$25 for adults and S$20 for children aged 3 to 12, seniors, and visitors with a disability. Singapore residents pay S$15 and S$12. Children under 3 enter free. Residents include citizens, permanent residents, and pass holders. Bring the card. Staff check it.
Hours are 10:00 to 20:00 daily except the two dates above. Last admission is 19:15. The evening hour from 19:00 is the cheaper foreign-visitor slot, not a second close. Strollers stay on the first-floor park. The rooms are tight timber interiors. Bags go on your shoulder, not on the tables. Children under 12 need an adult with them.
Practical details
Address: 48 Pagoda Street, Singapore 059207. Chinatown MRT on the North East and Downtown lines, Exit A. The centre occupies three shophouses on the Kreta Ayer stretch, not the malls on New Bridge Road. Street parking is on Mosque Street and Temple Street. Drop-off is Pagoda Street in front of Sri Mariamman, then a short walk.
Confirm dates on the official What's On page before you book. The September maintenance is finished. The next posted closes are 10 November, a full day, and 4 December from 11:30 to 16:00. The centre is open every other day on the current calendar.
