This stall at Chinatown Complex Food Centre is IMO famous for its traditional old-school Cantonese bakes - and there is about half a dozen different types offered here. Whilst I know of this stall to be famous for its "sakema" - an old Cantonese sweet bake - today I tried its "Sesame Egg Split"; not knowing what it was at all, but I was willing to try it. So, I bought a bag of five for $5 and tried them. To me, it is like a traditional bisquit that egg-rich with a coating of sesame seeds all over. Not bad, I thought - and it goes well with a cuppa coffee.

A rare stall still making handmade sak kei ma (殺騎馬) & xiao kou zao (笑口棗) the traditional way. The sak kei ma is golden, lightly crisp, gently chewy & nicely bound with maltose — not too sweet, not too sticky, just right. Their xiao kou zao is equally delightful — crunchy & lightly sweet with a fragrant hint of sesame.

Always knew that there's this traditional snack stall in Chinatown Food Centre but never tried it before. Today I walked pass the stall and see the owner working hard at the wok. I don't think Uncle is rude but he is obviously busy making Sachima and could not afford too much of small talk. This is my first time trying handmade Sachima. It's a mix of sweet, chewiness and crunchy bits, which is not the impression I had of commercially sold Sachima which is cridpy and biscuit-like. It goes especially well with Chinese tea.

One of the better soya sauce chicken in SG! Love how their chicken isn’t overly sweet and has a nice, strong savoury aroma. The chilli is also a real a palate opener and packs a punch.

Their signature soya sauce chicken is a masterpiece—slow-braised to tender, juicy perfection in a secret blend of herbs, spices, and soya sauce. The noodles is Incredibly springy 👍 A must-try for all foodies!

Food was ok but the experience was destroyed by the server’s attitude. Very pushy once we entered the restaurant, kept pushing us to order and rolled his eyes when I told him I needed time to look and think about what to get. Will not go again even though the food was ok.

It's okay taste-wise. Just reminded me that there's a better soya sauce chicken rice but it has closed,😢 Lee Fun Nam Kee. Over there, the sauce and rice is perfect blend for the chicken.

We recently visited and tried their signature Soya Sauce Chicken. It’s slow-braised in their original family secret blend of herbs, spices, and soya sauce until tender and aromatic, then served with a robust, salty-savoury dark sauce that’s bursting with flavor and nostalgia. We paired the tender, flavorful chicken with: - Noodles, Chiew Kee's most popular side, light and springy, perfectly soaking up the rich, savory sauce. - Dumpling soup Plump handmade dumplings filled with minced meat and mushrooms, served in a clear, comforting broth. - Vegetables with Oyster Sauce Simple yet satisfying, crunchy Hong Kong chye sim in a glossy oyster sauce. Other than these, we also ordered lime juice, which was refreshing and perfectly complemented the meal. Oh, by the way if you love spicy food, be sure to pair the chicken with their chili sauce for an extra kick! The restaurant is air-conditioned, clean, and comfortable, making it an ideal spot for dining with friends and family.

There’s something so comforting about lunch at Chiew Kee Noodle House—a place that feels like stepping back into old-school Singapore. Perfect for those cravings for tender soya sauce chicken, it’s a warm hug of nostalgia and flavor. We went for their classic menu, complete with classic soy-braised eggs. The springy egg noodles and silky hor fun were spot-on, while the blanched vegetables with crunchy fried shallots made this a balanced yummy meal. Don’t forget their tangy pickled green chili and chili sauce to satisfy the retro tastebuds. I like to drizzled more of their sauces over the chicken, eggs and noodles. Since 1949, Chiew Kee has been delighting Singaporeans with its soya sauce chicken, slow-braised using the same original recipe crafted by their founder. Prepared by the third generation of the Chiew family in consistent flavors, this iconic dish continues to bring comfort & joy to loyal fans & new visitors alike. If you’re looking for familiar, timeless flavors with a touch of history, this is the spot to visit.
